Reliable quality, always

I've ordered from Good Chop several times now, and the consistency is what keeps me coming back. This last custom box with the ribeye and pork chops was just as good as the first. Delivery always shows up on time, and the packaging is solid. They're a dependable source for good quality meat. I appreciate that.

Great savings on quality meat

I was looking for a good deal on meat and Good Chop delivered. I used a first box discount and got a custom box with some beef stew meat and pork tenderloin. The price per pound ended up being really competitive with local stores, especially for this quality. Everything was well-packaged and arrived frozen. Definitely felt like I got my money's worth and then some, which is important when you're on a budget.

Easy and tasty

Just got my delivery with some bratwurst and some flat iron steak. It was super easy to set up the subscription, and the box showed up when they said it would. The meat cooked up really well, tasted great. It's nice not having to think about sourcing good quality stuff all the time. Made dinner a lot less of a chore, you know? Pretty happy with it.

Good product, minor shipping snag

The quality of the meat in my large box, especially the New York strip steak and gulf shrimp, was excellent. The taste and freshness were definitely a step up from what I usually find. My only minor issue was the delivery took 6 days to reach me in California, which was a day longer than the estimate. Everything was still perfectly frozen upon arrival, so no real harm, but something to note. Overall, good value for what you get.

Just received my first order and the packaging was super impressive. Everything arrived perfectly frozen and well-insulated. Anyone else have good delivery experiences?

P Priyanka 1 month ago
Yeah, their packaging is top-notch. I've never had an issue with anything thawing, even in summer. The dry ice works wonders.

Mine arrived fine too, but the box was a bit beat up. Luckily, everything inside was still intact and frozen solid.

Fast for me too. They ship to my zip code without any problems, usually get it within 3-4 days of shipping.

Thinking of reactivating my account. Saw an email about a 'reactivate account offer'. Anyone know what kind of deals they usually give?

M Meena 2 weeks ago
It varies. I've seen 'free bacon for life' or 'free chicken breasts' for the first few boxes. Just depends on the current promotion they're running.
10
K Karan 2 weeks ago
If you login, it might show you the offer directly. Or try adding a box to your cart, sometimes the discount applies automatically.
11
R RaviP 2 weeks ago
Last time I reactivated, I got a '120 dollars off' spread across the first few boxes. Sometimes it's a 'free ground beef for life' kind of deal.
11
D Divya 2 weeks ago
Ooh, $120 off sounds good. I'll check my old emails.

I'm trying to decide between their sockeye salmon and Atlantic salmon. Which one tastes better from Good Chop?

V Varun 2 weeks ago
I've had both from Good Chop. The Atlantic salmon is still good, very buttery. If you're not a huge fish fan, maybe start there.
8
S Seema 2 weeks ago
Sockeye is wild-caught and has a stronger, richer flavor. Atlantic is typically farm-raised and milder. Depends what you prefer. I go for sockeye if I want more 'fishy' taste.
9
C Chef_A 2 weeks ago
Yeah, sockeye is also firmer in texture.

I Ishaan 2 weeks ago
Thanks, that's helpful. I prefer stronger flavors usually.

Considering Good Chop for my family. Is their meat actually grass-fed and pasture-raised like they say? Trying to compare to ButcherBox.

M Meera 1 month ago
I've heard Good Chop is 100% American sourced too, which is a plus for me. ButcherBox uses some international sources sometimes.
11
V VivekG 1 month ago
Yes, their beef is grass-fed and pork is pasture-raised. I've been a subscriber for over a year now and the quality is consistently good. I prefer it over ButcherBox for the specific cuts I like.

S Sneha 1 month ago
That's good to hear. What cuts do you usually get?
7
A ArjunS 1 month ago
I've tried both. Good Chop's grass-fed ground beef is really lean and flavorful. For chicken, I think they're pretty comparable, but Good Chop usually has better deals.

My Good Chop coupon isn't working for the 'free bacon for life' deal. Is there a trick to it or did I miss something?

P PoojaL 1 month ago
Check the fine print on the coupon. Sometimes it's minimum order value or specific box sizes. Also, make sure you're entering it in the right field at checkout.

I had an issue once, contacted their customer support chat and they fixed it right away. Might be worth a try.

Oh, didn't think of that. I'll try them if I can't figure it out.

Are you a new subscriber? Most of those 'free for life' deals are usually for first-time customers only. Also, sometimes they don't stack with other discounts.
6
A AmitJ 1 month ago
Yeah, you can't usually use multiple codes. Pick one or the other.
8
K Kiran91 1 month ago
I am new! But I tried applying a '100 dollars off' code too. Maybe that's it?

My t-bone steak from Good Chop was a bit tougher than I expected. Cooked it medium-rare. Any tips for cooking their t-bones or porterhouse cuts?

G Geeta 2 weeks ago
Could also be the specific piece. I've had perfectly tender ones and an occasional chewier one. Sometimes marinating helps even for a short time.
2
C chef_raj 2 weeks ago
Sometimes those thicker cuts need a reverse sear. Oven first at low temp, then a quick sear in a hot pan. Keeps it more tender.
8
M ManojK 2 weeks ago
Never tried reverse sear. Will look up a recipe. Thanks!
4
F foodie_fan 2 weeks ago
Definitely the way to go for thick steaks.
1
S Sushil 2 weeks ago
I find their porterhouse steaks are usually pretty good. Maybe let it rest longer after cooking? That helps a lot with tenderness.

I'm thinking about getting the 'free meat for a year' deal, but I'm worried about being locked into a subscription. Can you skip weeks easily with Good Chop?

V Vikram 3 weeks ago
You can also adjust the frequency, like every 2 weeks or every month. It's not just skipping individual weeks.
1
A Ananya 3 weeks ago
That's even better! Thanks for the info.
1
K Kavita 3 weeks ago
Yes, you can skip weeks! It's pretty flexible. Just log into your account and change your delivery date. I do it all the time if I'm traveling or still have too much in the freezer.
1
K Kavita 3 weeks ago
Nope, totally up to you. Just make sure to skip before the cut-off date.
7
A Ananya 3 weeks ago
Oh, that's a relief! So no pressure to get a box every month?

Just got my first Good Chop box and it was mostly chicken. Was hoping for more beef variety. Anyone else find their first box a bit light on options?

R RajeshK 1 month ago
Yeah, my first custom box was heavy on chicken too. I think they try to give you a 'starter pack' of sorts. You can always adjust your preferences for the next one though.
6
P PriyaS 1 month ago
Good point, I'll update my preferences. Thanks!

Mine was mostly pork, which I was fine with actually.

A AnilM 1 month ago
I heard they sometimes have a 'first box discount' that auto-fills some items. Could be why. For subsequent boxes, you pick everything.
4
P PriyaS 1 month ago
That makes sense. I did use a first box deal.
2
S Sandeep 1 month ago
You can totally customize each box. Just log in and swap things out before your next shipment date. I always load up on the ribeye and flank steak.
